OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Our client, a reputable financial services organisation based in Johannesburg, is seeking an experienced and
strategic Chief Financial Officer to lead all financial operations of the business. The successful candidate will
play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s financial direction, ensuring fiscal discipline, and providing datadriven insight to support executive and board-level decision-making.
This is a senior leadership appointment requiring a CA(SA) professional with a proven track record in financial
management, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical
expertise with the commercial acumen to drive sustainable financial performance.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• Overseeing all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow
management
• Leading the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, management accounts, and board
reports
• Developing and implementing financial strategy aligned to the organisation’s business objectives
• Managing relationships with auditors, banks, investors, and key financial stakeholders
• Ensuring full regulatory and statutory compliance across all financial functions
• Monitoring and managing financial risk and implementing appropriate internal controls
• Providing strategic financial analysis and recommendations to the CEO and board
• Overseeing tax compliance, planning, and structuring in line with SARS requirements
• Managing, developing, and mentoring the finance team
• Supporting M&A activity, due diligence processes, and financial modelling as required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• CA(SA) qualification (essential)
• Minimum 8–12 years’ relevant post-qualification experience, with at least 3 years in a CFO or senior
financial leadership role
• Experience in the financial services sector or a related industry preferred
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation
• Proven experience operating at executive and board level
