OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Our client, a well-established commercial law firm based in Johannesburg, is seeking a commercially astute
attorney to join their dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will advise clients across a broad range of
corporate and commercial matters, providing high-quality legal support in a fast-paced and intellectually
stimulating environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in corporate and commercial law, excellent drafting skills, and
the ability to manage complex transactions from inception to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements
• Providing legal advice on corporate transactions including mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings
• Conducting legal due diligence on commercial and corporate transactions
• Advising on regulatory compliance, company law, and corporate governance matters
• Liaising with clients, counterparties, and external stakeholders on all transactional matters
• Managing a portfolio of commercial matters from instruction through to finalisation
• Mentoring and supervising junior attorneys and candidate attorneys
• Monitoring and communicating legislative and regulatory developments relevant to the practice
• Preparing legal opinions, memoranda, and professional correspondence
• Building and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• LLB degree
• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
• Minimum 4–7 years’ post-admission experience in commercial/corporate law
• Proven track record within a commercial law firm environment
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

• Strong drafting and commercial negotiation skills
• Deep understanding of the Companies Act and related commercial legislation
• Ability to manage multiple complex transactions simultaneously under tight deadlines
• Commercial acumen and sound business awareness
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work product
• Confident client-facing skills and the ability to build lasting professional relationships
