OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Our client, a leading global law firm with a significant presence in Johannesburg, is seeking a dynamic and
accomplished Partner to join their South African practice. This is a rare and prestigious opportunity for an
established legal professional with a strong book of business and a track record of excellence to step into a
leadership role within an internationally recognised legal environment.
The successful candidate will combine deep legal expertise in their chosen practice area with strong business
development capability, a genuine client-centric philosophy, and the leadership qualities required to inspire and
develop a high-performing team.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• Leading and developing a profitable and sustainable practice group aligned to the firm’s strategic
objectives
• Managing complex, high-value client mandates and consistently delivering exceptional legal advice
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships and proactively originating new business
• Mentoring, developing, and inspiring associates and junior fee earners within the practice
• Contributing to the firm’s thought leadership, marketing, and business development initiatives
• Collaborating with partner groups across local and international offices
• Participating in firm governance, management committees, and long-term strategic planning
• Meeting and exceeding agreed billing targets and financial performance metrics
• Staying at the forefront of legal developments relevant to the practice area

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• LLB degree (postgraduate qualifications advantageous)
• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
• Minimum 10+ years’ post-admission experience, with significant partner or near-partner level experience
• Established client following and demonstrable book of business
• Proven track record within a top-tier law firm environment

• Exceptional legal expertise and technical proficiency in the relevant practice area
• Strong business development, client origination, and relationship management skills
• Leadership, team management, and people development capability
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strategic commercial thinking and sound business acumen
• Demonstrable billing performance and effective financial management track record
