Role Overview
The successful candidate will focus on providing tax advice to corporates on both local and international tax matters, including the tax structuring of inbound and outbound investments, as well as mergers and acquisitions. The role involves advising on complex tax transactions, funding arrangements, and dispute resolution, offering exposure to a wide range of industries and high-profile clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on corporate tax and structuring matters, including M&A and cross-border investments.
- Provide guidance on group restructures, funding arrangements, and BEE or ESOP transactions.
- Represent clients in tax dispute resolution matters, including objections, appeals, and litigation.
- Liaise with SARS and other authorities in relation to client matters.
- Advise private clients on tax residency and tax emigration.
- Stay current on tax law developments and regulatory changes impacting clients.
Requirements
- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
- 5–8 years’ post-admission experience in corporate and tax law.
- Strong understanding of local and international tax frameworks.
- Experience with transactional tax structuring and dispute resolution.
- Excellent drafting, advisory, and analytical skills.
- Professional, detail-oriented, and client-focused approach.
