Role Overview
The firm is seeking a Senior Associate to join its Mining Law Division. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-value mandates while maintaining a balanced work-life environment.

The successful candidate will advise clients on regulatory, transactional, and compliance matters across the mining and natural resources space, collaborating closely with directors and senior counsel on strategic legal solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise clients on mining rights, regulatory compliance, and environmental obligations.
• Draft and negotiate commercial agreements, including joint ventures, off-take, and supply contracts.
• Provide legal support on M&A transactions, project development, and due diligence.
• Liaise with government departments, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders.
• Deliver practical, solution-driven advice aligned with client and business objectives.
• Mentor junior professionals and contribute to the ongoing development of the mining practice.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 6 years’ post-admission experience, preferably within mining or natural resources law.
• Strong experience in regulatory, transactional, and commercial mining matters.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage complex client matters with professionalism and attention to detail.
• Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal communication skills.
